GMC, El Coyote, Schraier, & Uptown
Saturday: I attended "You oughta Be In Pictures" at Lincoln Center with the New York City Gay Men's Chorus (I'm formally taking a leave of absence until September). I was happily accompanied by Shawn...the perfect date! :-) It's wonderful to have connections with the box office...I was given amazing seats in the orchestra. Guest stars included Kitty Carlisle Hart (Joan Rivers replaced her), Olympia Dukakis (out sick), Karen Ziemba, & Claudia Waite. Favorites included "When you Wish Upon a Star" & "What's Opera, Doc?" (Bugs Bunny's Kill The Rabbit ). It was kind of strange not being apart of the chorus for this concert, but it was also a pleasure watching from the audience perspective. There is a chance I will be apart of the June concert.....time will tell. :-) I find my schedule is packed with extracurricular activities so I am limited. OY!!!
Sunday: I was fortunate to see my best buds in NYC, Dan, Alicia & Brooke Ferris at El Coyote in Jamaica. Always a pleasure. Sadly, everyone was really late so I had 3 helpings of chips and salsa. hehe I KNOW, I'm soooooo predictable. My taste buds were VERY happy. Alicia, I wish you'd let down the wall you've built so finely once in awhile....I love you and I want you to be a happy.
Monday: After work, I was fortunate meet up with my high school music director Richard Schraier for dinner @ Bombay Masala (The oldest Indian restaurant in Manhattan). He visits NYC every year from Los Angeles right around his birthday. He's an avid theatergoer so I know our time is mainly lunch or dinner. I was able to bring Shawn along so he could get a sense of my history. :-) I'm hoping I'll get so see him tonight before heading off to New Hampshire/Maine for the 3 day weekend. I'm very grateful to have him in my life. Hopefully I'll get to see him when I finally organize a trip to LA. :-)
Lastly, Uptown Express is slowly getting ready for our big performance at the Symphony Space on the Upper West Side. We had rehearsal last night and judging by the music and the talent, I think we have a good show ahead of us. I'm excited that Mario Cantone is hosting. :-)
